Proof Positive

I regularly assert that America has become too stupid for democracy. Well, that might be hyperbole, but I think I can take this as proof positive that South Carolina Democrats are too stupid to be allowed to vote:

Disgraced Vet Facing Porn Charges Wins Dem Nomination by Landslide

He raised no money, made no campaign appearances, failed to file any campaign finance reports and garnered 60% of the votes against an opponent who apparently was trying!

He didn't have to campaign. The porn charges WERE his campaign. Keep in mind this is the reality TV generation. They won't condemn him for the porn charges, they will idolize him for it.

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. John Adams

Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide. John Adams

Our form of government has morphed from a republic to a democracy run by, and for, thieves, scalawags and "other mendacious persons" .

The minute they gave EVERY idiot alive enough to breathe the right to vote it started to decline.

The vote needs to be restricted to those people who actually pay into the system. Anyone who takes more from the public coffers than they pay in should not be permitted to vote, this includes welfare cases and Government employees...you cannot put the foxes in charge of the hen house.

Interesting quotes from Jjet. A voice from the past telling us that there is such a thing as human nature and the 'self destruct' problem has been with us for a long time.

Immagikmans' point recognized
here in NZ as well.
Proportional representation can have the same unwelcome effect.
Makes it easier for the 'great unwashed' portion of the demographic to get their way.
I read that the leftie part of the new UK coalition have demanded a referendum on it.
