Message From The Messiah

There may be no safer gambit in modern American politics than the one that worked so well for Nero and Caligula. When things require a bit of propping up, simply hand out bread and provide some circuses. If there is some blood and gore involved, the masses will eat it up even faster. Yesteryear’s Christians have been easily replaced by anyone who is successful in America. Nothing inspires the hate of the welfare crowd more thoroughly than pointing out that someone has made a profit.

How Does This Work?

A perfect example. Let’s ignore the decline of gasoline prices over the last couple of weeks. Dwelling on that and linking it to an impact on the futures market from the President’s rescission of the off-shore drilling ban would also be counter-productive. Let’s even ignore the fact that oil is a global market and many of the contenders for the limited supply aren’t US “Big Oil” companies. No reason to let reality intrude with a good give-away proposal.

We’ve got the masses wallowing in self-pity that gas prices have gone up. Congress rushes off to their five week campaign recess blissfully ignoring calls for action. Nancy Pelosi bleats heroically that her mission is to “save the planet” and nothing else will do. The unwashed want a scapegoat and a hand-out. So the Messiah says, “I will give you money for nothing! You must only love me in return.” What’s your vote worth this time around? Will a cool G-note do it for you?

And, he goes on; I will get the money from profits on investments that the oil industry has made in delivering a product to your neighborhood. Yes, we will punish them and give the proceeds to you. A perfect plan and, did you notice, it is one that doesn’t cost the tax-payers a cent? Well it does in the long run, but I remind you not to look at the man behind the curtain.

The question that must be asked and no one seems eager to ask it is: “How does taking their profits from free market suppliers lead to lower gas costs at the pump?” If they don’t have profits, share-holders don’t get money on their investments. If they don’t have profits there is no research and development funding. If they don’t have profits there is no money for drilling exploratory wells. If they don’t have profits there is nothing for infrastructure development. If they don’t have profits, the alternative is to raise prices on their product to a point where there will be profit. Prices go UP when taxes are imposed, not down!

That’s the undeniable truth. Read it Sen. Obama. Please! And stop getting skewered like this:

That Should Do It

Is he so dumb that even the others will notice?

Very, very insightful article.

I get a kick out of how the Dems portray people who have worked hard and become wealthy as greedy monsters sucking the lifeblood out of the average Jane or Joe.

I am also dismayed, much like you are, about how the average Jane or Joe seems to just lap up the coolaide poured out by the campaigns of these politicians, who have more money than most of these sheople will ever even earn throughout their entire lives.

It seems to me that many of these folks choose to remain ignorant of the facts of what is really going on in this world...and when they do find themselves faced with facts they don't like, they are all too eager to listen to the rhetorical spin being served by the politicos who depend on them to stay in power.

When people gripe to me about the cost of fuel, I agree that it's way too high. When they proceed to blame Bush and the oil companies, I ask them, where do you folks think the oil companies are getting the oil from, and how are they paying for it?

These same people are often the ones who say we can't drill for our own oil because we might just disturb a polar bear or a carp, or whatever.

It's scary that Obama has reached the heights he has, with virtually nothing of substance to back him up. It's even scarier that he's being portrayed as a messiah of sorts, and that anybody is actually buying it.

I'm no expert, but I must agree with your comments.

If you ever would be interested in the study of a microcosm of liberal thought processes, you should look up Duluth, MN, which is run almost exclusively by unions/DFL/Democrats. Trust me, I'm only here because I like the lake and I have family here(lots of Norwegians settled here).

One huge, important issue our mostly-liberal city council will discuss on tonight's agenda is a chicken ordinance. They want it so you can have up to 5 chickens, but you can only collect the eggs, you can't have a rooster(too noisy!), and you aren't allowed to "harvest" them for eating.

I'm tempted to ask them what came first...but then they'd think I was imsinuating that I know who's on first, and that we even know where it is.

This, when we have a declining population/tax base, burdensome and exploitive property taxes, an ever-increasing exodus of criminals who come here to exploit the welfare system...the list goes on and on.

By the way, your pup is an awesome dog.

Thanks for the great read.

By the way, I wrote the post that talked about chickens in Duluth.

Thank you.
