Are We a Great Country or What?

Who says Americans aren't tolerant? Sympathetic? Understanding? Compassionate? Who says we don't encourage diversity? Who says we don't welcome all beliefs? Want evidence?

The Whole Story of Snyder v Westboro Baptist Church

The simple fact that this bottom-sucking scum is not scattered across the country in pools of their own blood and body parts is clear evidence that we tolerate much more than we reasonably should. I'm thinking that fat phuque of a "minister" would fold up like a half-risen batch of sourdough bread if he got within arm's reach.

These people are a bunch of sick SOBs. I have no idea what their motives are but I hope they all rot in hell. There's no excuse for what they're doing.

I'm surprised that none of the lawyers even bring up the SC's own test for unlawful obscenity, based on 'local values'.

Most of America thinks what these creeps do is obscene - but more specifically 'local': military families are easily 99.9999 percent of the opinion that it is an obscenity.

Dweezil, the criteria for obscenity is three-fold and the court has affirmed that all three factors must be present. Not only "local standard" must be offended, but the work taken as a whole must be totally without redeeming value and the work taken as a whole must appeal to prurient interest. That last one is certainly not even on the table here.
