How Does This Work?

You've heard him express his goals. He seeks energy independence for America. No more, or at least much less, foreign oil. He seeks to put Americans back to work. Jobs, jobs, jobs are the priority.

So then what do we make of this:

Keystone Project Delayed Until AFTER Election

Some points to ponder:

  • Between 10 and 20 thousand jobs are involved in the construction of the pipeline
  • The oil will otherwise go to China
  • There is already a Keystone pipeline for much of the route
  • The existing pipeline has had no problems
The man is a hypocrite. But, I repeat myself.

The Pinko Liberal Governor of Nebraska also has problems with the project. Obviously the R that Follows Gov Heinemans name must be a Typo.

Maybe we should note that the current Keystone line already goes through Nebraska and over the Ogallala aquifer. We should also note that the governor of Nebraska is not one of the decision makers in this.

When a GOP Governor whose parties motto seems to be Drill, Baby, Drill has environmental concerns The President, GOP or DEM has to listen The fact a GOP Gov has concerns about a project that will impact 20K jobs is powerful evidence that their might be a little more work that needs to be done on the project to make it safe.

Oil to China??? Oil is fungible. No big deal.

And the existing pipeline has no problems? Two words.

Deepwater Horizon

What did Deepwater Horizon do to the existing Keystone pipeline? There is probably also the possibility of the pipeline colliding with an iceberg in the N. Atlantic in the dark of night on its initial crossing, or maybe a spark lighting off the hydrogen gas with static electricity during docking.

Fungibility is irrelevant if you are limiting the total supply in the market. You can't interchange existing product with un-delivered product.

We (the US) have vast unexploited but proven reserves of hydrocarbon fuels. We have coal and clean-coal technology. We have oil reserves but haven't built a new refinery since 1978. We have natural gas beyond anyone's wildest dreams. We have safe nuclear. But we are buying solar panels from China, feeding half-billion subsidies to Friends of Barack and covering the once beautiful vistas of the west with fucking windmills that don't generate power to balance ten percent of their cost. Meanwhile we gripe about unemployment.

Your such a sly fox Ed playing dumb like that on Deepwater Horizon.

However the argument is now moot as the pipline builders have seen the error of their ways and have agreed to change the route saving 20,000 jobs and not allowing the dastardly Chicoms access to our oil.

Perhaps someone at the Obama administration read the chess board correctly and knew this would be the probable outcome?
