I understand the ambivalence. Saw them a couple of years ago at Nokia/Verizon. I like the jazz infusion, but there's something just so 'metrosexual' about their music.
To me, they only started running that way at "Aja". "The Royal Scam" still had satisfying vestiges of the rock that was touched with jazz instead of the other way around.
All of "Countdown To Ecstasy" is worthwhile to me, and that's how I remember 'em.
