There has been a very professional bunch of folks working recently to bring the mission scenarios from When Thunder Rolled to the flight simulator community. Using the highly configurable Third Wire environment they have been modeling the F-105, the landscapes of Korat and NVN, the weaponry, and even figures like a chubby, immature, scrawny mustachioed 1/Lt in the cockpit. The missions recreate events described in the book and for those who have read Thunder, it will provide an opportunity to get into an F-105 cockpit and give it a shot yourself.
The roll-out of the completed game module will probably be in the coming months, but a web-site describing the progress, the people involved and showing some of the graphics is now open here:
When Thunder Rolled Home Page
If you are into flight simulators or know some folks who are, give them a heads-up on this. Point them at the site and let them take a look.

"Walk in my footsteps", Not sure I can, Ed. But, this looks like a very cool project and can't wait for the final product. Good Luck
Chubby and scrawny - at the same time?
Immature? By yesterday's standards. Today, we need all of that kind of immaturity we can get our hands on.
The mustache was scrawny, the Lt was chubby (sort of!) I'd love to be that chubby again! I'd be forty pounds lighter.
Will a flight manual come with the game? All those switches and dials.
Lets see if its truly realistic: pre-mission briefing, pre-flight, launching, forming up, hitting the tankers, going down town, head on a swivel for SAMs and MiGs, ignoring AAA, dropping bombs, getting the heck out of Dodge, hitting tankers, landing, post-mission debrief, and O-Club destressing briefing. There goes a whole day. And sweat-stained flightsuit is optional.
Oh yeah keep us in the loop on it.
Looking forward to it.
Bonus: We can hit pause and get a do over in the event of a SAM strike.
Anna, dunno about the O'club destress, but AFAIK all the rest of it is in the mix. The effort on cockpit accuracy has been remarkable and I've seen some of the graphics of the tankers as well as the landscapes and in-flight graphics.
They hope to be able to raise the stress to sweaty palms, pre-mission nervous pee, and out-bound prayer of thanks levels.
