War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest...
The degraded state displayed by this slug, crawling through the muck of the liberal mind, is easily much uglier. Deluding himself that his despicable actions somehow do not endanger American fighting men, allied military and supporting indigenous people in the Middle East while somehow fomenting a change in policy is ugly.

In many parts of the world he would be dead already. In the US, he will likely be paraded down Fifth Avenue, lauded at the United Nations and then feted at next year's Nobel presentations.

I love how people who have never been to Gitmo talk about Gitmo :P
I have been there on several occasions, its a pretty nice place really. There are much worse places to pull duty or be detained.
No doubt you are correct Ed. Assange will be touted by the effete left as courageous and principled. Certainly he sees himself as such. Even if we do charge or state an intent to detain him as a material witness he'll be coddled, protected and, if necessary, hidden.
One thing is clear, this evil man has no concern for any human life but his own.
I am not religious but do believe in human morality and accordingly, human evil.
We have vandals in the house. They care not for people. All they want is to smash the windows and kick in the walls.
It goes beyond politics.
