What About His Rights?

A car bomb in Times Square followed quickly by the always questionable statement of our crack Secretary of Homeland Security that it was unrelated to terrorism and probably just a "one off" incident. Then a man dumping out of his black shirt to expose an already worn red one to make his getaway. Shortly a trail of a cheap used car purchase linked the Nissan in question to an orgiginal owner. Now, news that we've got him:

Man From Pakistan Arrested

But, almost on schedule we've got the traditional team-mate and co-conspirator for DHS in the adminstration, our erstwhile Attorney General, Eric Holder, pronouncing:

On Monday, a day of fast-moving developments from Manhattan to Washington, Holder said in the morning that it was too early to designate the failed bombing as an attempted terrorist incident.

What would it be then? A weekend barbecue? A delivery of heating propane for the double wide parked behind the theater? An innocent mistake by an immigrant who thought he was lighting his underwear?

An ignited car bomb in a place like Times Square can be nothing but a terrorist act.

Now shall we have Faisal Shazad read his Miranda Rights? Shall we place him in protective custody and establish rapport with him so that he will confide in us? Will he ever love us like the Bamster loves his country?

Should we try him in New York City or would Gitmo be a nicer place to reside for a while?

Did we employ any racial profiling here? Did we filter through a couple of hundred Polish dock workers, Swedish grandmothers, native-American teen-agers, and a token Hispanic immigrant to insure a diverse search population? I hope we didn't just leap into the blame game over yet another Muslim fundamentalist Jihadi nut-case.

Where is the justice in that?
