On Sale: Distressed Merchandise

"The president who started off with such dazzle now seems incapable of stimulating either the economy or the voters. His campaign is offering Obama 2012 car magnets for a donation of $10; cat collars reading “I Meow for Michelle” for $12; an Obama grill spatula for $40, and discounted hoodies and T-shirts. How the mighty have fallen."
That tidbit is from a left-wing top-level editorial writer for the New York Times. It's not a right-wing hit piece. It leaves me pondering whether I would get more use out of an Obama burger flipper or a nice hoodie to roam gated communities at night.

Here is the entire sad story:

Maureed Dowd No Longer Feeling Bamster Tingles

So, are they essentially paraphrasing that great Lincoln quote regarding how you can fool some of the people some of the time and some of the people all the time?

Isn't that cheapness somewhat mediated by the First Lady, who when asked if she could be anyone, who she would be--and she responded, "Beyonce."

Not Condoleeza Rice, or Nobel Laureate Toni Morrison; but rather, a stripper-pole, rapper "bitch" forgettable pop singer.

Like Nancy Reagan wanting to be Madonna, or Laura Bush Lady Gag.

I think Michelle Obama pretty much said it all, don't you?

I think the apropos campaign promotion would be a 'pooper-scooper'.

Rendell considers 'O' a great communicator? Hell, even with his Teleprompter, he's not much above average. But he's not in the league of RWR, JFK, FDR, or even WJC (y'all can put the last three in any order - RWR still stands head and shoulders above them).

R's may not have been keen on Mittens, some may still be on the sidelines, but he's got a solid résumé: Bain Capital/Staples, '02 Olympics, Governor. Compared with a former bake sale and car wash chairman.

Interesting times, indeed.
