No Consequences Ever

A very important principle is that actions have consequences. With that in mind, we can live in a civilized world. If we think through the results, we act prudently and all of society is the beneficiary.

But, if you are the Fuerher, you don't have to live with consequences. Here's the lead paragraph of the lead story, above the fold, page one of today's WSJ:

The Obama Administration ratcheted up its demands on Wednesday that BP PLC cover all costs stemming from the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, including millions of dollars in salaries of oil-industry workers laid off because of the federal moratorium on deepwater drilling.

See how that works? The Bamster curries public favor, particularly from the great unwashed and unemployed who are his core constituency. They thrive on class warfare and punishing a big corporation is bloody red meat for them.

Demonstrate that you're finding some "ass to kick" by issuing a total moratorium on deep water drilling, including previously issued permits and ongoing work. That should do it. In the process, you'll put several thousands of people out of very lucrative jobs serving a very vital economic need of this nation. How do you cover for that consequence? Don't fess up and say you screwed up. Make the uninvolved third party liable for the results of administration arbitrary action.

Bleeding the Turnip

Increasingly the outcome is becoming inevitable and visible to all observers. BP is going to go bankrupt. That will serve no one's benefit. People will be out of work. shareholders will lose their investments, cleanup will not be accomplished, claims of damage will not be compensated, repair of the leak will not get dealt with, and our dependence upon now more expensive imported oil will be assured. The planned destruction of BP continues the policy of the administration of offending the British by shattering the largest corporation in the UK. Returning the bust of Churchill and giving the Queen a DVD of great Obama speeches was just a prelude to the big act.

All of that will give the Messiah the justification he needs to move, ala-Chavez, to nationalize the oil industry in the United States.

Obama's now covering all the avenues to stop the leak: he's issuing a Cease and Desist order to the Gulf of Mexico. That should fix it, right?

Barry, never having had to actually earn a living or run a business has no idea what he is doing.....friggin idiots that voted for him are ultimately to blame.

Best thing BP could do is pull a trick out fo the housing contractor book... Go bankrupt, and open up under a new name. If I were the CEO I definitely wouldnt take any shit from Obama or his administration. They arent even an American Company...it is after all BRITISH PETROLEUM that BP stands for.
