Fighter Porn

Ya got yer live-fire, ya got yer ACM engagements, ya got yer AMRAAM and AIM-9 shots, ya got yer flare discrimination by the latest generation Snakes. What's not to like?

Great video!
But I hate to see Phantoms used as targets...

Damn, I miss it. Didn't see a lot of post shot cranking though and I think that last shot was a pretty good example of why you should. The fireball and debris attract a lot of attention and in and of themselves can be hazardous, not a good place to be around.
On a separate note, do you or any of your readers know why the Eagles went to a two bag configuration? We always flew clean, centerline or three bag, never two wings.

A great one - and it even gives me chance to gyp a better-quality copy of the WCS anthem ('Radar Love').

Even though the target is an old weasel, it still pains me to see long paid-for high munitions-carrying capacity drones shot down instead of dropping 14 GPS or Laser-guided MK-82s on a SW Asia (or North African) enemy - then returning home for a reload!

Dweezil, I'd bet that the morted targets are "Firebee" style drones and not the F-4G you see in the viddie. Typically the shots at live-fire are done with inert warheads so that they don't destroy the target. Since primary kill mechanism is proximity fusing, the drone is not direct-hit killed usually and the fly-past is recorded by cameras on the drone. Typically they get 4-6 live-fire missions out of the jets.

Really nice video. What is the meaning of the hand signals in the last shot. Pilot waves his hand and shows 5 fingers. Was that 5 kills?

It's awesome at about 2:30 with the view of the Eagle pointed at the ground.

At about 4:04 just after the launch of the missile from the right inboard station, is that a missile going past the aircraft that is shooting video?
