Why? Because They Can
Yes there is a muzzle brake and yes there is a lot of weight, but still this is substantial and wouldn't be fun for a day at the range. And I don't think that business about "you won't notice when you're in the field" would apply:
The case is way shorter than I expected - interesting that it uses a bit more than 4x the powder of my pet .270 load (58 grains of H4831 behind a Nosler or Hornady 140 BT), but the bullet is almost 20x heavier.
I guess the prototype in the video was the 'mountain rifle' (lightweight) version...
