Background Info Only

This is making the rounds and if you haven't seen it yet, you will shortly at most of the blogs. I'm not taking a position on it beyond a simple notation on the dog-earred upper left corner, "Noted."

Panetta Acted, Bamster Fumbled, Jarrett Opposed

Make up your own mind, but nothing in that description conflicts with the profiles of the actors involved.

Cancel my 'pat on the head' (for Obama finally overcoming his fear of making any decisions, in an earlier comment). It looks like he wasn't involved.

I wonder which of the two (Hillary or Panetta) will win the Democrat primary in 2012. . .

Absolutely fascinating.

If he were honorable, BHO would resign immediately.

If fit's the Won's MO. If it had gone south, Panetta would be the scapegoat. Since, Thank God, it was a huge success, of course, the lightworker was the root cause. After all, he was the only one who came up with the idea to use SEALS. /sarc

Thanks for the link to the story!

I've never heard of this SocyBerty site. Is it normally reliable?
The whole story sounds plausible but I must admit I'm skeptical about the CIA director and the SoS 'overruling' the POTUS.

I've taken a second look at the photo of Obama in the situation room during the mission. Originally I thought he looked fully engaged in the events but now I think he just looks pissed.
Could it be?

General consensus seems to be that "Ulsterman" is writing fiction, albeit fiction so close to fact that there's not much difference between his suppositions and the real actions of the players.

He (or somebody) has a pretty nuanced grasp of the personalities involved, although the "Obama" character is portrayed the way he is with an obvious agenda in mind, and doesn't jive with the Obama that used to live next door to an acquaintance in Chicago. (The Michelle character is pitch-perfect, though.)

Thanks, Tam. I dunno, it seems too soon to be leaked which supports fiction. But I've seen leaders dragged along by folks who know what needs doing an dump the departed train on their desk when it is too late to do anything but agree with it.

Hard to picture the Bamster not putting his fingers into the water several times before jumping in to the pool.

Alabam Maersk, look at how long Obama dithered and micro-managed.

Not sure if Panetta actually took a lead. Has his tenure at CIA really been that good? Maybe scapegoat patsy for Clinton and Gates.

Those two, and Gen. Petraeus, I can see telling President Obama that we need to go now before Osama vanishes again. Then they used one final kung-fu move to get Obama to green-light it - 'what if it got out you did nothing to bag Osama Mr. President?' Even Jarret would cave on that.

Ed,

If you haven't gone back and read all the Ulsterman "White House Insider" posts from the beginning, it'd be a worthwhile read.

It's probably fiction, but it's fiction in the way that a portrait in oils isn't an actual photograph.
